Fall Foliage in Breckenridge, CO
Get ready to immerse yourself in the golden hues of autumn in Breckenridge, Colorado. This itinerary is designed to capture the essence of the season – from breathtaking views during scenic drives to cozy evenings by crackling fires or in your cabin hot tub. These are my suggestions for what you should do each day and places to eat :) Feel free to modify to adapt based on how you’re feeling. Use the google maps list which has all the locations I found during my research as a guide.
The links in this document will help you to follow the itinerary I’ve created for you as well as provide resources if the plans need to change.
The Google Map list has all the restaurants and key locations, like your cabin address, pinned and saved for easy access. Make sure you have Google Maps installed on your iphone. If you have a samsung or other android google maps will be the default.

Saturday, 9/21/24
Travel / Arrival Day! Welcome to Colorado
8:05am - Flight Departs SFO Louisville
8:50am - Landing in DEN (30 - 45 mins to get bags and get rental car)
10:30am - Moonlight Diner, breakfast near airport before driving to Breckenridge
JOIN THE WAITLIST WHEN YOU LAND. The diner is popular so you might need to wait a little :)

12:00pm - Drive to Cabin, 91 Adams Way, Breckenridge, CO 80424, about a 2.5hr drive
2:30pm - Check-in at Cabin, get settled and rest till supper
6:00pm - Supper at Whiskey Star Smokehouse (might seem early but remember the time zone change :))
8:00pm - Relax at the cabin, sit in the hot tub, play cards etc.
Sunday, 9/22/24
Getting to know Breckenridge with a short hike and exploring the main street
8:00am - Breakfast at Blue Moose Restaurant, gets busy so going early will make it easier to find parking
10:00am - Sawmill Reservoir, 6 mins from Blue Moose Restaurant, short and easy hike around a lake
12:00pm - Lunch at Empire Burger
2:00pm - Explore Main St for Shops, Galleries, Photo Opportunities, etc
4:00pm - Relax back at Cabin
6:00pm - Supper at Kenosha Black
Monday, 9/23/24
Museum and Mine day, learn about the history of Breckenridge then take in the views with a Gondola Ride
9:00am - Breakfast at BoLD Restaurant
10:30am - Country Boy Mine Tour (TBD on their September hours)
12:30pm - Lunch at Breckenridge Tap House
2:00pm - OPTIONAL Museum visit or rest back at the cabin
Breckenridge History: Barney Ford Museum
4:00pm - Breckenridge Nordic Center Gondola Ride (TBD on September Hours) or drive to the Breckenridge Overlook (pinned on the google maps list)
6:00pm - Michael’s Italian Restaurant
Tuesday, 9/24/24
2nd hike near the cabin then a tour in downtown learning about strange events that took place
9:00am - Breakfast at cabin
10:00am - Sapphire Point, paved hike overlooking Lake Dillion
12:30pm - Lunch at Bird and Cow
2:00pm - Strange but True Tour - Historic walking tour covering interesting facts about Breckenridge. (if you are interested in this let me know and I can help you book it)
4:00pm - Explore Downtown or back to cabin for a break
6:00pm - Supper at The Blue Stag Saloon
8:00pm - Put gas in the car before heading back
Wednesday, 9/25/24
Scenic Drive Day! Pack snacks for the road
10:00am - Brunch at Bread+Salt Eat big! Long Day (on the way to the Top of the Rockies Scenic Drive)
11:30am - Officer’s Gulch hiking area (seems like a good place to stop and walk around, some trails to a nearby lake but don’t get lost)
12:00pm - Rocky Mountain Coaster (buy tickets at Copper Mountain Guest Services)
1:00pm - Clinton Gulch Dam Reservoir (rest stop with a view, don’t stop too long need to be in Leadville by 1:45, 20mins drive)
1:45pm - find parking and go to Leadville Scenic Train
2:00pm - Train Ride Leadville Scenic Train (buy tickets HERE ) (they have snacks on board but you can bring your own) 2.5hr ride
5:00pm - Supper at Quincy’s Steak & Spirits
8:00pm - Back at cabin (about an hour drive from Leadville)
Thursday, 9/26/24
Easy day of museums and mini golf after a long day of driving
9:00am - Breakfast at Columbine Cafe
10:30am - Breckenridge History: Lomax Mine
12:00pm -Lunch at The Canteen Tap House
2:00pm - Mini Golf at Epic Discovery Park
4:00pm - Rest at Cabin
6:00pm - Supper at Quandary Tequila Bistro
Friday, 9/27/24
Last full day and birthday celebration, enjoy the beautiful overlooks and have a great final dinner!
8:00am- Early breakfast at BreckFast (opens at 8am)
9:30am - Blue Lake Trail (popular and easy hike for viewing fall foliage, gets busy so go early to find parking)
11:00am - Drive down to Hoosier Pass (another great stop to look out at the fall foliage)
12:00pm - Ollie’s Pub & Grub (restaurant on the Blue River)
1:30pm - Last day to shop and pick up any souvenirs
2:30pm - Relax and pack at the cabin
6:00pm - Birthday Dinner for Brother-in-law 2 options will likely need to make a reservation
Saturday, 9/28/24
Travel day back home
9:00am - Check out of Cabin and drive to Denver
11:00am - Brunch at Village Inn (if you feel you have time, this diner is by the airport)
12:00pm - Check in at Airport
2:55pm - Flight Home
